DISTRICT LEVEL CHILD PROTECTION COMMITTE
The NCPA is empowered to appoint sub committees under sec. 15(e) of theAct No50 of 1998. Using this mandate the NCPA has taken steps to formulate District Child Protection Committees in each administrative district in Sri Lanka.
NCPA has so far established DCPCs in the following districts :

The Government Gazatte No 1136 (Part 1) of 09.06.2000 spells out the functions and composition of the DCPC. District Child Protection Committees were established to strengthen and expand the child protection activities at district level. The District Secretary acts as focal point and is responsible for the planning and implementation of activities. The committee serves to co-ordinate probation and child care work and local law enforcement authorities, the Judiciary and health aspect at local level. Local NGOs working in the field of child protection are included particulary for the care aspects.
