| HELPING HAND TO CHILDREN AND TEENAGE MOTHERS AT IDP CAMPS |
The ruthless war has been ended by bringing unrivaled glory to Sri Lanka, the pearl of the Indian Ocean. The consequences of this conflict have created many challenges before us.
Therefore we as the responsible citizens of this country have a major role to play for the war victims of North and East. It was found that a considerable number of children and teenage pregnant mothers were among the total IDPS who have fled to IDP camps during last few months
Hence the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) is very much concerned about their plight specially the teenage mothers and children’s protection and care, health and safety.
Various on going initiatives have been commenced with the collaboration of Pediatricians of the faculty of Medicines of Colombo in this regard and committed to continue untiringly
They have prepared a list of medicines to be given to these children. Since the cost of these medicines is very high we seek your generous support to collect these medicines as much as possible. The list is given below for your kind reference
In order to take care of the teenage mother’s unique health concerns, especially their hygienic needs, the NCPA is planning to distribute personal hygiene packs, maternity kits providing obstetric care for these mothers, during and after childbirth. The list is given below.
It is also greatly appreciated if you could provide us the items required for the school going children, such as exercise books, white clothes, school bags, bottles, stationary etc. to be distributed among the school going children
In order to fulfill this requirement we humbly seek the assistance from the kind- hearted people in this society to give us a helping hand towards this worthy cause by contributing the required items.
It is also heartening to mention that there are children who have been unaccompanied by losing their mother/farther or both of them during the war period. We also request to contact us if you are willing to be foster parent for them.
We believe that your generous support in this regard would help to ease the burden of these young mothers and children and to live for a better life for tomorrow. |
